2018 19 Phoenix Suns Season Recap

2018-19 Phoenix Suns Season Recap

Regular Season

The Phoenix Suns finished the 2018-19 NBA regular season with a record of 19-63, finishing 15th in the Western Conference. This marked the team's fourth consecutive season with at least 60 losses. The Suns struggled throughout the season, never winning more than three consecutive games.

Coaching Changes

Earl Watson was fired as head coach after a 0-3 start to the season. Jay Triano was named the interim head coach and finished the season with a record of 21-58.

Roster

The Suns' roster underwent significant changes during the offseason. The team traded away T.J. Warren and Jared Dudley, and signed Trevor Ariza and Kelly Oubre Jr. The Suns also drafted Deandre Ayton with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Despite the roster changes, the Suns struggled to find consistency throughout the season. Deandre Ayton showed flashes of potential, but was also inconsistent. The team's defense was one of the worst in the league, allowing opponents to score an average of 118.4 points per game.

Outlook

The Suns have a lot of work to do if they want to improve next season. The team needs to find a consistent point guard and improve its defense. The Suns also need to develop their young players, including Deandre Ayton and Mikal Bridges. With a lot of work, the Suns could be a playoff contender in the near future. However, the team needs to make some significant changes if they want to reach their full potential.
